Congratulations, Kristen, on being named March Staff Member of the Month! Dusty and all the other patients are lucky to have you at SFVS.
What’s your job at SFVS?
My job is working as the holistic/oncology assistant and upstairs receptionist. I work closely with the holistic practitioners, oncology nurses and doctors, and all of our patients and their owners who come upstairs for appointments.
How long have you been working at the hospital?
I have been at SFVS for almost three years.
Who’s that kitty with you in the photo?
That kitty is Dusty. She has been coming in every few weeks for chemotherapy and I have fallen in love with her. I can’t resist giving her a squeeze whenever I walk by her cage.
Do you have pets of your own? What kind of holistic therapies do you use with them?
Yes, I have two adorable felines. I bring them in for acupuncture treatments every few months to help maintain their good health. One of my cats, Bollini, has a heart murmur so he is taking an herbal formula to strengthen his heart.
Have you always wanted to work with animals?
What do you do when you’re away from the hospital?
I’m in grad school right now, so when I’m not working at SFVS you can find me with my nose in a book or working on sea slug research at the California Academy of Sciences. I’m also a big fan of tide pooling and exploring the city.
