This week in Ask the Vet, SFVS animal behaviorist Sophia Yin, DVM, answered a San Francisco Chronicle reader’s question about training dogs not to bark – specifically a Chihuahua who goes on a “barking rampage” when someone knocks on the door.
The question: Whenever my 3-year-old Chihuahua hears someone at the front door, she goes on a barking rampage. How can I train her not to do that?
For Dr. Yin’s answer, which actually mentions the use of canned cheese (!) as a training tool, see: Someone at the door? Train your dog not to bark (SF Gate)
