VCA SFVS pet behaviorist Leslie Larson Cooper, DVM, recently answered a San Francisco Chronicle reader’s question about a cat that “bites the hand that feeds her.”
The question: Our new stray cat acts desperate for attention, meowing loudly and rubbing against us, but as soon as we pet her just a couple times, she gets overstimulated and freaks out as if we’ve burned her with fire. Her tail fluffs out and she actually tries to bite us. What gives?
