We wanted to share this nice patient case study (and great photo) of Bobby, one of Dr. Kathy Andres’ oncology patients!
Bobby is a 7-year-old standard poodle. He was diagnosed with a right atrial mass and pericardial effusion (excess fluid around the heart) – suspected hemangiosarcoma (an aggressive, malignant tumor of blood vessel cells) in November 2010.
Under Dr. Andres’ care, he received the following treatments: chemotherapy, antiangiogenic therapy (controls blood vessel growth) and tyrosine kinase inhibitors.
The outcome? Rapid resolution of the pericardial effusion and no progression in mass size for six months. Bobby continues to enjoy daily romps in the park with a great quality of life!
