In this week’s Ask the Vet, our own Dr. Craig Maretzki answers an SF Chronicle reader’s question:
Hello from Hawaii! I have a 10-year-old spayed Shiba Inu. Lately, she’s been piddling on her bed and then licking it up. She seems to do it only when she’s lying on a dog bed or something soft like a towel or bath mat. She’s OK when resting and seems healthy otherwise. Last year, she had a good checkup for the quarantine period required by the Department of Agriculture when we shipped her to join us in Hawaii. She’s current on shots and is taking Heartguard and Frontline once a month. Any thoughts?
