Those of you who have been to our hospital recently have likely noticed the amazing animal art in our lobby. The artist is Joyce Johnson, and you can read a little more about her below. (Yesterday, we featured her kitty Eby in our Patient Stories series.)
Many thanks to Joyce for sharing her artwork with us and our clients!
I love painting. After working at Levi Strauss and Co. for 25 years creating and designing the men’s Dockers brand, I now finally have time to pursue a long lost passion, oil painting. I began painting as a teenager, idolizing my father’s paintings/drawings, as he was an amazing talent. On and off throughout the years I continued painting but never had enough time to be completely devoted to it. Now I find myself completely immersed in the joy of capturing the essence of not only my pets, but also the faces of many adorable breeds. To me it’s not only a challenge, but a labor of love. I consider myself to be a very fortunate person, to be able to do what I love daily.
I’ve been commissioned to paint many clients’ loved little furry babies. Along with other oil ventures, I continue to love painting the pets that love us unconditionally. I hope the display at VCA San Francisco Veterinary Specialists brings joy and smiles to those who share in viewing it.
